One Day At A Time

Last night I finally broke down and told a handful of people at my church (handful because everyone was sick but maybe 30 or 40 people) that I've been going through a hard time. I was actually at the point that I didn't think I would survive through the winter. I personally felt the devil was trying to kill me and filling my mind with lies. Yes I knew they were lies but it was like my mind was telling him go ahead and pull up a chair and tell me more. I swallowed my pride and finally ask my church to pray for me. And I'm still trying to realize that happiness is depending on happenings but joy is depending on Jesus! After church was over I walked out and was stopped by my Sunday School teacher Matt L. and he told me the whole time I was testifying that he kept having a song go through his mind. Where's The Line To See Jesus?

Peter do you love me?

I was thinking the other day about Peter and Jesus' conversation after Jesus arose from the dead. He ask if Peter loved him. Not only did he ask once or twice he ask three times. In the book of John the conversation went like this...

So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. John 21:15

He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. John 21:16

He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. John 21:17

Why did he ask three different times? Well it wasn't to get on Peter's nerves. Jesus wanted to confirm that Peter loved him. He wanted to give him three chances to make up what he done to Jesus. What did he do? Well in Luke 22:55-60 it says this...

And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them. Luke 22:55

But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire; and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him (Jesus). Luke 22:56

And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not. Luke 22:57

And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not. Luke 22:58

And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean. Luke 22:59

And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. Luke 22:60

Three times Peter denied Jesus and Peter said he would never do it. But three times Jesus let him confirm his love for him.

Give Me Jesus

Last night made only three times that I had heard this song, but I really enjoy it. Today I have listened to it two times. So now I've heard the song a number of 5 times. The first time I heard this song, my family and I were at our friend Mike Simpson's church and a little girl sung this song. Paul Hagen was preaching there and a teenage boy went to the altar to pray. Paul then had the girl to sing the song again. Then last night we were at my papaw's church and a middle age couple was singing and they sung this song. It is so beautiful. Even if it is a simple song it is so powerful, hope you enjoy!!

Our world as we know it is looking bleaker every day. In fact I won't lie I thought today my heart might faint within me. As I type this out I'm still unsteady, but my heart of renewed some after reading something in the book "Aristotle Owl and the Beckoning Bottoms." I told you that the man who wrote the book is a preacher, well he quoted a verse from Proverbs (the verse above) and as I said it renewed me.

If you listen to the news then you might feel like your hope is being postponed, but don't lose hope because our desire which is Jesus is coming. And the verse states that when desire cometh, it is a tree of life. We still have life because of Jesus and no one can take that away if we don't let them.

I feel the need to tell everyone out there if you are reading this and you are not a Christian and you feel the need to be saved then pray. Well how do I do that you may ask? Admit that you have sinned and believe in Jesus. You don't have to name every sin in your life just ask to be forgiven of them. Then find yourself a Bible and I would suggest you start reading the gospel of John. Also you should find a good church to go to, also the Bible says this...

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light." 1 Peter 2:9

When I think of peculiar I think of the word weird. We are a weird people (I'm laughing because I know I'm strange and weird). We are different. Some Christians might not like me saying this but the Christians who have morals are consider weird people to the world and other Christians who are different. So when you get saved try not to cuss people out or party it up. Love every one and be kind. Try to live the best you can live while we still have time to live here in this world.

One Flesh

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Genesis 2:24

I think when some women read this verse they think that only the man is suppose to leave his mother and father. And the woman thinks they are suppose to still cleave to her mother and father. I know I'm not married, but when I do get married I pray that God will bless me with a wonder father-in-law and mother-in-law that I can consider like my parents.

I will not lie, recently I have been battling with the fact that my sister-in-law doesn't want anything to do with our family. When she does I feel like she is doing it just to make an appearance. She won't let us have anything to do with her kids (noticed I put her). I haven't seen them seen Christmas. She would put the blame on me, but I think she didn't want us to come to the birthday party she had scheduled and she invited us at the last minute. I had already had babysitting plans so I couldn't go. Please pray for my family.

Here is my advice to women out there. When you get married make sure you love your husband's family. If you don't then don't marry him. That may sound mean, but I think you should get along with their family. Same goes for a man and his wife's family. When you have children try to always share the children with both sides of the family.

God intended marriage to be a man and woman being married and being one flesh. And if you don't respect your spouse's family then you are not one flesh. I hope that this will be helpful to someone. Also remember ladies the man is the head of household, but remember men you are not suppose to be overbearing. As it says in the Bible...

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. Ephesians 5:25

You should love your wives like Christ loves the church. Christ is not overbearing, a husband job is not to be go get this or that and wait on me hand and foot. Marriage is to be helpmates to one another. I don't think men should ask you to wait on them hand and foot, but in some ways I think the woman should want to do things for their husbands out of their love for them. I don't think a man should say it's my money not yours, because when you get married it is your money, you both share it. I do think if a woman is spending it on things that doesn't need to be bought then he has that right to stand and say quit spending it in foolish ways. I also know some men that spends money in foolish ways and I believe the woman should take the stand. That is something my parents have never argued about. My dad has always been willing to say if you want that dress get it, but my mom has been smart to know that sometimes the money should be used for other things. Well I don't know how I got to this point, but marriage is not all about you. In marriage there is no room to be selfish.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!! (and I'm back)

Clearly I'm not Catholic but of Irish descent. So when I celebrate St. Patrick's Day it is not how everyone else celebrates it. I enjoy the music, if you think about it, Irish music comes close to bluegrass music (which is one of my favorites). Also I enjoy Irish Step Dancing, I wish I could do it though. I would say I love the food, but we eat potatoes all the time, lol and the last time we had corn beef my mom got really sick. Not from the corn beef though, but she didn't enjoy the smell and we haven't had it since.

I will say that I don't agree with how the day is transformed into one big party. When I think of Patrick, I think he should be honored better then what people honor him with. Really I think God should get all the honor. Here is how I have been looking at Patrick lately. I see someone that is an example of love, because he was captured by some Irish men and held as a servant for six years. He escaped but he felt the calling to go back and help the people.

Wow, haven't I been smacked upside the head. Isn't that what Jesus said though in Luke 6:35, "But love ye your enemies..." It is nice to have people though that truly loves their enemies, because as Christians we are suppose to do this. I have a friend whose sister was murdered and the judge gave them the right to say something to the young man who had done it. He said he sat there arguing with God, there was other things he wanted to say to this guy that killed his sister, but he stood up and said "Jesus loves you and so do I."

"He that loveth not knoweth not God: for God is love." 1 John 4:8

Christ beside me, Christ to win me. Christ to comfort and restore me. Christ beneath me, Christ above me. I want Christ to be all around me.

I was thinking the other day about this girl who I went to school with. Now for people who don't know me let me give you a little history about myself. I did not go to a Christian school, but a public school. There was only one Christian school but it would have been a drive to get there. Even if I didn't go to a Christian school I still was surrounded by good teachers. Teachers who would quote verses from the Bible and tell Bible stories to us. I was raised in the country and I wouldn't have it any other way. My mom would have loved for me to go to a Christian school, so I could have had classes that revolved around the Bible, because I love the Bible so much.

So anyways back to this story about the girl from my school. I had never met her until I went to junior high (that's when the four elementary schools in the county would go together). She would have her good days and she would have her bad days. Sometimes she was really nice and other times she was really mean! Something changed when we went on to high school though. She asked Jesus to come into her heart and she had really CHANGED! She was so nice and in the mornings some of the kids would go to the library to have prayer before school started. If it wasn't me leading the prayer she would lead the prayer. She was really a testament to the verse in 2 Corinthians 5:17!!!

Note: My senior year of high school there was a Christian school that opened up not to far from my house, but it was my senior year and I decided I needed to finish my schooling with my friends.

New Song

Well here lately this song has been playing a lot because it is a new release from The Booth Brothers. It is a great song. When I first heard it I didn't think much about the song. The music is so laid back and I really didn't listen to it. Even if I wasn't listening to it very closely it was becoming one of my favorite. My grandpa had been sick, so my dad and I were taking turns staying with him. Well he officially kicked us out yesterday and if nothing happens I should be able to start reading the blogs that I like reading everyday now. I think my grandpa got tired me following him around and worrying over him. Yesterday I went with him and my aunt to his doctor's appointment and I believe he told me three times to go on that he was fine. LOL! I'm still very busy, today (December 15th) is my birthday. So I'll be enjoying the day with my cousins. The reason why I have been busy is I've been staying with my grandpa some. My dad will be staying the whole day with him because we have had plans for like a month now to have a game day. Also one thing with staying with him, I don't get very much blogging time and I don't get to read any blogs. I feel real bad about this because I love reading the blogs that I read. Speaking about blogging, I'm actually typing this out now and saving it as a draft then tomorrow (because right now it is the 14th) I will post the blog. I know I have you confused.

The video I am posting is of a song called Here With Us. I've only heard this song sung by Art & Jeff Bush and Tracy Tooley. So some of you may agree with me, this woman who sings the song does awful. I know I'm awful for saying that, but I think men sing this song better.
