I want to focus more on blogging about God. There will be sometimes that I will post a funny commercial (it is good to laugh) or tell stories about my family. So get ready for a wild ride with Starla! (FEEL FREE TO LEAVE A COMMENT)
I have to post two on the same day. I wanted to try to post 25 separate blogs, but I don't know how busy I will be tomorrow. So I decided to post two in one, also this one will be short. But the words are powerful.
Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
I told my cousin the other day that I had two funny pictures I wanted to share before Christmas. The first one is of my dog Gizmo with his Santa Clause hat hanging down like a beard. Gizmo was upset with us because we were trying to make him wear it. The second picture is also of Gizmo. One day after his bath, I wrapped the towel around him and then I started calling him a shepherd boy. I thought about asking if they needed a shepherd for the Christmas play. LOL! I'm also posting a video of "Angels We Have Heard On High" sung by Chris Tomlin.
Mary Did You Know is one of my favorite Christmas songs. The song is so powerful, but it is even more powerful when you hear it live. Back in 2000 the youth of our church went to a Gaithers Christmas concert. One of the things I loved was getting to hear Jake Hess and George Younce sing. Then Mark Lowry sung Mary Did You Know and I had chills run through my body it was so wonderful hearing it. Here is a video of Mark Lowry singing it on Broadway.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was filled with sorrow at the tragic death of his wife in a fire in 1816. The Civil War broke out that same year, and it seemed this was an additional punishment. Two years later, Longfellow was again saddened to hear that his own son had been seriously wounded as a lieutenant in the Army of the Potomac. Sitting down to his desk one Christmas Day, he heard the church bells ringing, and ringing. It was in this setting he wrote:
I heard the bells on Christmas Day Their old familiar carols play
The other day we went shopping. Some how we started talking about Ricky Skaggs and I laughed and said it was odd that we were talking about him because I was singing a song that morning from Ricky Skaggs' Soldier of the Cross CD. Then my cousin Marcy said she had also been singing a Ricky Skaggs song that morning called Dust on the Bible. She then told me about this Christmas song that Ricky Skaggs sings with James Taylor called New Star Shining. Marcy sent me the link to the video on YouTube. I decided to share this video with all of you out in Blog Land, here is the link.
When I was younger our Youth Choir use to sing this song. It is a very beautiful song and it is one of mom's favorite. Here is the link to the video on God Tube.
