A Happy Pig

"A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24

My mom told me that when she was younger that her favorite book was "Charlotte's Web." Well I had never read the book and decided to get it to read. I am amazed at what God showed me while reading the fourth chapter.

The fourth chapter in "Charlotte's Web is entitled "Loneliness." At the very end of the chapter it says "Darkness settled over everything." This darkness made me think of sin, when you are in sin there is darkness. In the book, Wilbur (the pig) is lonely, because he does not have a friend. Wilbur is a miserable little fellow. Again that is how sin is like, you are lonely and miserable. There is something missing, there is a friend you need.

While Wilbur lay in the manure he heard a voice, a little still small voice. That little voice said "Do you want a friend Wilbur? I'll be a friend to you. I've watched over you all day and I like you." I am getting blessed just thinking about it.

One day God knocked on my heart's door and He said, "Do you want a friend? I'll be a friend to you. I've watched over you all your life and I Love You."

Little Wilbur said, "But I can't see you. Where are you? And who are you?" But the little voice said, "I'm right up here." It is a beautiful thought, God forgave me my sins. Even if I have wonder where God is, He has been there the whole time. In the end if I can remember how the cartoon movie goes, Charlotte saves Wilbur's life and I'm sure that made him a Happy Pig. God saved my life one day and that made me a Happy Person.

This is a great analogy, Starla. It reminds us that when we feel lonely, all we have to do is look up and we've got a friend.

Charlotte's Web has always been one of my faves too!
