The Love of God

A month ago when I was staying with my papaw, his pastor came to visit him. I don't really know what exactly we were talking about, but he told me the song "The Love of God" the last verse of the song was found wrote on the wall of an insane asylum by an inmate. That verse says this...

Could we with ink the ocean fill And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill And every man a scribe by trade.
To write the love of God above Would drain the ocean dry;
Not could the scroll contain the whole Tho stretched from sky to sky.

This person had to at some time during their life seen the love of God. 1 John 4:12 says this...

No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. (1 John 4:12)

No one has seen God but if we show love then God dwells with us. So if he dwells with us, then people have to see God through our love. There have been many times that I have seen many people claim to be Christians who does not share God's love. I've seen people speak badly of other people, say hurtful things and called people terrible names and that is not showing God's love. I've seen people shun others because they are different. In fact, I read this verse and say, "oh my what have I done?" I see how I have been annoyed with people or said things I shouldn't. 1 Corinthians 13:4 says this "Charity (love) suffereth long, and is kind;" love is patient and kind.

Lately when I've been down, I've thought of the love of God. God is patient with me and he is kind and I don't deserve it. I tell him how much I love him, but I know as much as I love him he loves me more. Sometimes when I feel like no one cares, I know God cares. I was thinking the other day how much Jacob in the Bible loved his son Joseph. That is how much God loves us, but unlike Jacob, God can share his love with everyone. He doesn't dote to one person more than another. He makes us all feel special.

I love that song and that was a good post.

Another song came to mind too when I read your post. I can't think of the name of it, but I know the one I'm thinking of. ROFL
