Fear

Everyone has something that they fear. I have a lot of fears (oh I just admitted that). One of my major fears is of statues. They look so scary and some look almost real. I am not a statue person. I guess I think they are going to come to life and kill me or something. So here are some statues that I am afraid of.

"Scary Walking Man" I did not know exactly what the name of the statue was. So I named it "Scary Walking Man". This statue I could just see it chasing me.

Big Jesus (Christ the Redeemer) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This statue is on a skateboarding video game and every time I would see it I would scream and cover my eyes. My cousin Chris would have to tell me when it was off the screen. I am sort of feeling more comfortable when I see the Big Jesus statue, but I have no desire to go see the Big Jesus in person.

Scary Angel (Grave of Chester Arthur the 21st President), who ever put this on his grave I think was insane. I would be afraid that this angel would come to life and dig my grave up. Thanks to my cousin Jon for showing me this scary angel.

Giant Sinking Jesus (King of Kings) in Monroe, Ohio. The church that has this statue is called Solid Rock Church. I am telling people the name of the church that way if they are afraid of statues they can stay away from this church. I would like to send a e-mail to the church, and ask them why they have this statue? Are they trying to keep people that are afraid of statues away from their church. This statue cost $250,000. My cousin Jon told me about this statue also. He saw this statue in person when he was coming down to Kentucky on I-95 (so stay off I-95 if you are afraid of statues).

Last but not least, this is really not a statue just a bust of John Rankin's head. The bust of his head is on his grave. This bust looks like it could glow in the dark. I would be afraid to come along in a dark graveyard and see this head. SCARY!!!!!!!!!

Well I told you one of my fears and I know you probably got a laugh from it.

I have some weird fears too. I absolutely will not sleep in a bed where I will be facing a mirror. It just creeps me out for some reason.

Also, I hate walking into the bathroom and finding the shower curtain completely closed. I get the feeling that someone may be in there and rush out and murder me. LOL

I just found your blog and I, too, have the fear of statues. I googled the Solid Rock Church to see what the statue looked like, and it freaked me out. I couldn't log off the page fast enough. I'm glad to know other people have issues, too.
Thank you , seriously.

OMG!! I thought I'm the only one who has a weird fear of statues! I'm scared of larger than life statues like those in mount rushmore or the statue of liberty. They are especially scarier when I imagine them underwater. I swim several laps in the pool for exercise but once I imagine huge statues underwater, i can't help it but get out of the pool as quickly as i can. i'm not sure what's the relevance of this fear in my psychological make-up...

It's nice to see that I'm not the only one that has a fear of statues. This is so bizarre and intriguing. I would love to know the answer why this would cause fear. You wouldn't think a religious statue could scare anyone or a wax figure or manneqiun. If there is a psychiatrist out there...please explain.

I too have a fear of statues or wax figures of people. They are too real and creepy. The one I freak out over is "Christ of the abyss" I would die if I ever saw this close up. Also google "Inez Clark statue"

Hello there from Germany!

Your post is already a couple of years old but hooray, I was so glad to realise there were others (you and some of the people, who commented) with a fear of statues.

I googled the sinking Jesus as well and it is the most terrifying statue I have ever seen in my life!!! And it caught fire... My god. That is just scary. It also reminded me of a fountain from Düsseldorf (Germany), which used to scare ever since I was a kid. Here's a picture of it. I still won't pass this bridge...

Well, I hope you're alright. :)
Thanks for your post and all the best from Germany!

I am so afraid of statues that when we travel to a new town, I can tell by the landscaping that one is near or coming up. I hate statues so much. I have lived in capital cities and they are always full of statues. I hate sitting ones and ones on horseback. Sam Houston Statue in hermann park freaks me out. There is a very creepy kids statue fountain in Durham at the mall and the main girl is straight out of the ring horror film. It is the ugliest form of art. I can't do field trips with my kids sometimes bc I know the museum will have statues and I will hurt myself and trample people trying to run in the other directions. Why am I like this?
