The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (Movie Review)

My cousins Brandon and Marcy order movies for me to watch through Netflix. Since Marcy, my mom, and myself read The Boy In The Striped Pajamas we all wanted to see the movie. Sunday me and my mom watched it. It was only an hour and a half. We had time because we were going to my friend Buck's church and his church didn't start until 7 pm.

Of course a movie and book have to be a little different. I felt like some surprise was taken away at the beginning of the movie. Also I had never thought of it before when I was reading the book, but in the movie they had electricity on the fence (that separated the boys) and that is something that wasn't mentioned in the book. I think both little boys in the movie were excellent and did a wonderful job in their roles. The movie overall was a great movie. Even though I knew the ending, it was still overwhelming.

I know for the book I said the book would be fine for children 9 and older to read as long as a parent explained the period of history, but the movie I believe wouldn't be good for children 12 and under. My mom and I talked about this and she didn't think it was as bad as it could have been and that is true, but it may be a little disturbing for younger children. The best advice is, if you are thinking about letting your children watch the movie or read the book, then watch the movie or read the book for yourself and then you decide whether your child can handled it.

I thought the movie did a fairly good job of staying true to the book...although they did add some stuff.

I liked the movie, but the book was definitely better. It kind of bugged me that the actors had British accents (lol).
