Spring Jubilee Day 5

Last night was the last night for Spring Jubilee (sighing). The choir sung "Won't It Be Wonderful There" and "Heaven's Jubilee." I really enjoyed the choir a lot last night. I love both songs. Mike Upright & Standing Tall sung. There were three songs that I really enjoyed, "Adam, Eve, and Me," "Gone," and "Winning Either Way."

Last night they done a special presentation of Show & Tell (cardboard testimonies). Calvin Ray Evans said that he was going to have 30 to 50 people help preach his message. He read from Luke 5:12-15 and said that God has no limitations! He said that he didn't like when people said they don't believe in prayer or miracles because getting saved is one of the biggest miracles in any one's life. Then they started the presentation. There were so many signs and I can't mention them all but I will mention a few.

One family came to the stage and the lady was in a wheelchair. They held her sign up and it said, "Sitting here in my wheelchair waiting on my change." They turned the sign over and it said, "What a change that will be." Jacob Berry's sign said, "People said I'd never be able to talk." His mom helped him turn his sign over and it said, "God said he would be my mouthpiece." A man and woman came on the stage and their sign said, "Prayed years for children." Then a boy came out and his sign said, "Mom and Dad adopted me in 1990." He turned his sign over and it said, "Jesus adopted me in 1997."

After the presentation they had altar call. Some people went to the altar for healing and some went to get saved. After the service they told that all together 11 souls were saved. So that means they had 3 saved last night. I can't believe it is over, but that's OK because this coming Monday they are starting a revival at the church here in the community. I'm really looking forward to it.

Spring Jubilee Day 3

Last night started with pouring down rain. We arrived a little after six and my dad and I went to visit with our friend Bud Mefford. I had a gift I wanted to give to him (Twizzlers Black Licorice). When I handed it to him he screamed out, "my favorite." His wife doesn't like them and doesn't really like for him to eat them so I told him to hide them, lol. After this we (my mom, Pat, MaryAnn, and myself) went to the building next door to look at the different tables set up. While we were there we talked with Jacob Berry's dad and sometime during this time period it started to pour the rain. I elected myself to go out in the rain to get umbrellas.

The Spring Jubilee choir sung again last night. We know one song they sung was "He Set Me Free" but we can't remember the other song and Brian Baer didn't send out a e-mail about the service. There was 1575 people in attendance and 2 souls were saved last night. The Primitives sung and after they sung Calvin Ray Evans stood and ask everyone if we trusted him and he said he was going to do something different. He had a group called The Joyful Three to come and sing a song for The Primitives. I was so proud of them, I've know them for a while. They are not a big name group but they really sing for the Lord. I think the whole crowd enjoyed it. The people in front of us were asking us who they were. Also I almost forgot that The Primitives let Brian Baer play guitar with them when they played while the ushers took the offering up.

Calvin Ray Evans preached last night from Hebrews 6:13-20. He preached that God has not changed his mind, it still takes the blood to be saved! Salvation is based off a covenant, but not a covenant on you. We are the beneficiaries. We benefit from the covenant and we didn't even have to be there when Jesus died.

Tonight Brian Baer will preach, unless the Holy Spirit moves and that will be fine with all of us. Ricky Atkinson & Compassion will sing. Tonight they we be honoring the veterans and taking up canned food for needy veterans.

Spring Jubilee Day 1

Spring Jubilee started off real good last night. The Spring Jubilee choir sung two songs, "He's My King" and "Make Me A Blessing." This year the choir decided to sing songs from the hymnal. The McKameys also sung and they did a wonderful job and it was so spirit fulled. Peg shouted and kicked her shoes off, it was great. Even Jacob Berry took a running spell (well a strolling spell in his wheelchair).

Calvin Ray Evans preached last night from 1 Chronicles 4:1...

The sons of Judah; Pharez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal. 1 Chronicles 4:1

I'm not kidding that was his scripture. He talked about how Judah's name meant praise. Then he said all the names in this scripture means something. The title of the message was, "This is what comes from praise!" Pharez means breaking forth and this shows power in praise. Hezron means surrounded by walls. There is protection in praise. Carmi means a gardener or vine dresser this shows praise is productive. Hur means purity there is purity in praise. It's hard to sin while praising and praying to God. Shobal means overflowing. There is something about it spilling over on others.

There were 2 souls saved last night during the invitation and 1 soul saved after the service. Tonight The Browders will be singing and Jacob Berry will be preaching. Also to let all you know out there, I will be posting everyday about the meeting if nothing else happens. Upcoming Event: Spring Jubilee

Every year in May they always have the annual Spring Jubilee (scroll down to the May section) with wonderful preaching and singing. This year won't be any different. Spring Jubilee starts May 11-15. On Monday night they will have The McKameys singing. Tuesday night will be The Browders singing with Jacob Berry preaching, also this night is set aside for the youth and they have pizza after the service. I have never heard The Browders sing in person but I've seen them on TV the father (Tommy) of the group battled polio and now he is confined to a wheelchair. He sings that when he gets to heaven, "I'll be strollin' instead of rollin." Brother Jacob and Brother Tommy I know will probably have a good time together. Instead of running they might be wheeling around praising the Lord.

Wednesday, The Primitive Quartet will be there. Thursday, Ricky Atkinson & Compassion will sing. Friday night Mike Upright and Standing Tall will have a reunion and sing, they will also have a special presentation called "Show and Tell." The guide they sent out telling about Spring Jubilee says that Mike Upright and Standing Tall will only be making 10 appearances together this year, so this is really a special time to see them together. Camp Meeting Day 5

Tonight was Red, White, and Blue night. They had all the veterans to come to front of the church. They had one of the veterans to hold the American flag and they ask my friend Buck (my friend Dawn's dad) to say the pledge allegiance. Then we sung God Bless America and then we had another veteran lead prayer. We was also blessed to hear are missionary from Haiti sing. Brother Dieusse is always a blessing, a interesting fact about Bro. Dieusse that I just found out tonight is he can speak four languages. Paul joked with him and said that he couldn't speak Ohio Appalachian language. (I have a funny story about Bro. Dieusse that I will share another time.)

Calvin Ray Evans preached tonight from 1 Kings 18:4. He said that during the Bible times people would go to the caves because they were afraid. He stated that fear is faith in the enemy. He then read from Joshua 10:16-18, 22, 26 and 27. He talked about how Christian people run to caves to hid from the world and eventually the devil has them in a prison and then they spiritually die. He told us to come out of the caves. He had my pastor and his family to sing and people started praising the Lord and some people and families went to the altar to pray. Others were hugging people and two of the young girls from my church got the Not For Sale sign and started walking around the church. It was a great night. Close to the end we were standing around looking at one another trying to figure out what to do next. So Witness sung with honorary member Brian Baer. Then Brian played the piano and sung. When Brian sit down to play the piano, Cal Ray looked at him and said, "now your playing the piano." Brian can sing and play a lot of different instruments.

Camp Meeting Day 2

Tonight we received good news about a twelve year boy who was in a accident with his grandfather (the boy's grandfather was killed in the accident). They didn't think the boy was going to make it, but his aunt stood at the front of the church and told that he has no brain damage, he opened his eyes today and squeezed his mother's hand. It was very exciting hearing this good news.

The choir sung first and I don't know how many times they went through the song "We'll Soon Be Done With Troubles And Trials." It was great listening to them. Then when they took the offering up, they let Sister Benner and Nathan Davis play "Goodbye World Goodbye" on the piano. They both can really play that piano and they start off normal and while they keep playing they get faster the longer they go. Witness (the group singing at our camp meeting) did an awesome job tonight. I love listening to them sing. My mom bought Witness' bluegrass CD tonight and we listened to it coming home. It is a great CD.

Bro. Calvin Ray Evans preached tonight. He preached from 1 Samuel 17:1-3. He focused on the place Ephesdammim. Each place in the Bible has a meaning and Ephesdammim meaning is "The boundary of the Blood!" He told us no matter how strong the devil is, he can't pass the boundary of the blood. He also told us that he thought about the reason why David used a sling to fight with. And he said this thought came to him. He fought with a sling so he would not have to cross the boundary line of the blood. The message really helped me and I enjoyed it very much. Many people went to the altar to receive help.

Campmeeting Day 5

Tonight was also another awesome night. Cal Ray preached about shouting. The title of his message was "Is Shouting in the Scriptures." He read from Psalm 47:1, Psalm 32:11, Psalm 35:27, and Isaiah 12:6 all these scriptures have something to do with shouting.

He gave five points about shouting they are, Shout without the clout. Shout that brings the rout. Shout without a doubt. The Shout that brought us out. And last but not least, The Shout that will take us out. During his second point he talked about Joshua and the children of Israel marching around Jericho and when he was talking about this, Brian stood up and started blowing a ram's horn. Then everyone started to Praise the Lord.

We then had different men carrying the Christian flag around. At one time some guys I know were running around the church carrying the Christian flag. It was so great. Then close to the end of church everyone was sticking around, so they did not know what to do because no one was leaving. So Cal Ray had this guy come up on the stage and Cal Ray, Brian Baer, Mike Blanton, and this other guy all started singing. They did a good job. I never knew Cal Ray could sing and he is a good singer also.

Campmeeting Day 4

WOW!!! That is all I can really say, tonight was awesome. Paul didn't preach because we had such a great service. Tonight was Red, White, and Blue night, so everyone wore those colors. The choir started the church service singing "God Bless America" and while they were singing my pastor went and got the American flag. Then he went to the microphone and asks this girl that will be leaving for Iraq tomorrow to come and hold the flag, while we said the Pledge of Allegiance. Then after this was done my pastor told of a young man from one of the churches who had already left for Iraq. I thought that was really nice what Pastor Darren did.

The singers started singing and the girl who is going to Iraq came to the altar and had people pray for her. Then some more people went to the altar. We were all having a good time and the singers were going to stop singing, but we told them to keep singing. So they did and more people went to the altar. We had one person saved, maybe more. We also had a young boy accept the call to preach. I knew something was going on with this young boy because he kept going to the altar, he was running from the call. But thank God he quit running tonight. We all had a great time.

I forgot to tell about what I gave Brian last night. I had heard Brian say one time while preaching that when he witnesses to people, he first finds out what they are interested in. So he said if they like Nascar then they talk about Jeff Gordon or how much he does not like Jeff Gordon. But the funniest thing is Brian knows nothing about Nascar. So last night I wrote out stats about my favorite driver Tony Stewart and I gave them to him. I told him that most people don't like my driver. Then he looked down at the paper and he said, "I like this guy, because people say I look like him." I looked at Brian and I could not believe I had not noticed it before. I sort of felt stupid giving him the stats, but after I gave them to him, I was glad because he seemed truly excited about me giving them to him.


Tomorrow night (I mean tonight) Cal Ray Evans will preach. Unless we have another service like we had tonight.

Campmeeting Day 2

Well tonight was an exciting night (last night that is) also. We had people praising the Lord. One thing I really liked is my friend Brian Baer use to sing with the group that is at our campmeeting, so they let him sing every song with them.

The preaching was done by Cal Ray Evans. He preached from Matthew 3:11 & 12. One thing that I thought was interesting that he told is in the scriptures wheat is used as a reference to saints and/or Christians. I took notes but some of the notes were not very clear. So I won't post the notes, I don't want to confuse anyone.

Someone also gave $3500 for some of the churches over seas. I thought it was great!!! We had a lot of people raise their hand saying they were not saved. Please pray that they will come back and get saved. Tomorrow (or tonight) Brian Baer is preaching. I am so excited, Brian is a very interesting preacher.

Campmeeting Day 1

Well our church campmeeting started last night (since it is after midnight). We live close so we just drive there. So anyways, I really enjoyed myself tonight. The singing was great, the preaching was great, it was all great.

Tonight our general superintendent Paul Hagen preached. I have always enjoyed hearing Paul preach. Tonight he read from Exodus 16:21. He did not read the whole scripture, he read only one line. He preached twenty minutes, but he told us he would preach longer on his second night.

The main part of the scripture he focused on was "And they gathered it every morning....." He said that God gave fresh bread daily to the children of Israel. But it was their job to gather it every day. So likewise it is our job to gather it daily also. For us Christians now, it means that if we want something fresh from God everyday we have to pray and read our Bible. Paul gave altar call and ask people if they felt like they were not doing things like they use to (reading their Bible, praying and attending church) that they needed to come to the altar and ask God to help them.

It was a nice service and I seen a lot of friends also. Tomorrow, or should I say tonight, Cal Ray Evans will be preaching. Then on Tuesday night Brian Baer will preach. During the day they have services at 10:00am and 2:00pm, with Paul Hagen, Cal Ray Evans and Brian Baer in a rotating schedule.
