Grace

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. ~Romans 5:8

The other day my Uncle Steve was telling me about this message that a preacher was preaching on TV. He compared grace to a camel. When I first heard my Uncle Steve say this I was like, "How did he do that?" My Uncle Steve explained that we can not climb up onto a camel's back when it is standing, but the camel has to come down to us. That is exactly how grace is. It is so big, that God made a way for it to come down to us. I was reading the definition of grace and I liked it. The definition of grace is, the state of being protected or sanctified by the favor of God. I love the old song "At Calvary" and in the song it says in the 4Th verse, "O the love that drew salvation's plan! O the grace that brought it down to man! O the mighty gulf that God did span At Calvary!" Grace is so beautiful and it is so much more because God brought it down to our level.

Totally Ticked Off!

I just found out awhile ago that Louis van Amstel will not be on "Dancing with the Stars" this year. I mean Louis is the only reason I watched DWTS. I can't believe they are not letting him come back. He has been on the show for three seasons. I don't think I will watch it this year, but who knows, I might. But I still am really ticked off! OH, by the way since I am talking about Louis van Amstel, you should check out the slide show I made of him.

What is Hogan thinking?

Last night I watched "Hogan Knows Best" on VH1. Well in the episode the discussion comes up about Vince McMahon wanting to offer Hulk Hogan a 20 year contract. Well Hulk Hogan can I say two words "Survivor Series!" I mean this is not the first time that McMahon has offered a 20 year contract. He offered Bret Hart one, back in 1997 and he totally stabbed Hart in the back with the pen that Bret signed the contract with. So remember this Hulk, when Vince is whispering sweet nothings into your ear, he might be raising the pen to stab you in the back!

What was she thinking? What are they thinking?

Over the weekend we (my mom, my niece and I) were watching TV and we all saw something and we all had the same thought. "What was she thinking?" If you don't know what I am talking about, well I am talking about Britney Spears. I want to know, did she go CRAZY! What kind of drugs is she on? She is nuts!

Also everyone now has heard about Peter Pan Peanut Butter salmonella cases. So now I wonder what they are thinking? I mean, they are losing money now, because everyone is afraid of their peanut butter. But guess what Peter Pan you probably were already losing money, because most people eat Jif. Yeah Jif is the best! So maybe this is the final nail in the Peter Pan coffin to put their sad peanut butter out of business and send it to that big peanut butter heaven in the sky.

Where did all the money go?

Well soon the Daytona 500 will be here, but Nascar has had some of there races already this year (small races). Yesterday they had two races to see if some people could make it into the Daytona 500. One of those people trying to make it into the Daytona 500 is James Hylton (age 72). He use to race in the 60s, 70s and 80s. But now he has no money and he was trying to make the Daytona 500 to earn some cash and be the oldest Nascar driver to ever start a race.

The sad news is James Hylton did not make the line up for the Daytona 500. So today I reviewed some of Hylton's career earnings from the years he did race. I found out that Hylton was a pretty good driver. Even if he never won a championship he did win second place and third place quite a bit. And he did earn quite a lot of money. I don't know if he did not managed his money very well or he thought that all his money would last for the rest of his life or what?

I do know that even if he won a lot of money he had other people he had to pay. Also something I notice is that some years he would finish better then some drivers and the drivers behind him would get more money. The reason why is because Hylton did not have the name Petty, Bonnett, Parsons, Baker and Yarborough. It all matters when it comes down to a name.

Let me point out some facts so you can understand the statement I just made. In 1973 James Hylton finished 4Th in the points and Richard Petty finished 5Th. Hylton earned $82,512 and Petty earned $234,389. In 1975 Hylton did good for himself and finished 3rd, but Benny Parsons finished 4Th and made more money then Hylton. In 1980 the same thing happened again, but this time Neil Bonnett and Buddy Baker made about $100, 000 more dollars then Hylton. Also in 1982 Cale Yarborough finished behind Hylton and Yarborough made almost $200,000 more then Hylton.

Now I do believe that Hylton would have made a great Nascar driver. His stats prove that, but no one ever got behind Hylton and gave him that push that he needed. I mean it does matter what the name is, in sports today. I mean this is 2007, and I have heard of Petty, Bonnett, Parsons, Baker and Yarborough, but I had never heard of James Hylton until now. And I may have never heard of him, if he hadn't ran out of money and that is really sad, because he was a good race car driver.
